A century after its foundation, Kangol continues to enjoy the same authority that has distinguished it since its birth.
English clothing brand, it is famous in particular for its headwear, produced by Jacques Spreiregen initially for golfers, workers and soldiers, so much so that it was one of the main suppliers of caps to the armed forces during the First World War.
In the 60s we find Kangol hats on the heads of important people such as the Beatles and Princess Diana, while from the 80s the brand began to gain strong recognition by the hip-hop community, in particular by some major exponents such as Run-DMC, Grandmaster Flash, LL Cool J and The Notorious BIG, followed years later by Eminem.
Although the official logo is that of a kangaroo, the brand's name has little to do with this animal, being instead formed by the union of the letter K for “knitting”, meaning “to knit”, and the words “Angora”, a type of fine wool, and “wool”, simply “wool”.
The choice of the kangaroo comes from an all-American misunderstanding, since there people used to ask where they could get the “kangaroo” hat. bucket, beanie, snapback, beret, velvet or wool hats, you're spoiled for choice!
