Marquis M. Converse is an American company that has been producing footwear since the early 1900s.
It was founded by Marquis M. Converse in 1908 in Malden, Massachusetts as the Converse Ruberr Shoe Company.
The company's most famous product is the Converse All Star model, designed in 1923 by Chuck Taylor , a professional basketball player, to improve his game. The sneaker featured a thick rubber sole and a black canvas construction that hugged the entire ankle.
Despite the founder's efforts to create a shoe suitable for basketball players, the shoe was not immediately a great success.
Fame came when the famous player Chuck Taylor , who fell in love with the comfort of these sneakers, promoted their qualities throughout the country.
Chuck liked these shoes so much that he personally went to the company to purchase them and improve the model according to his needs.
Chuck Taylor's success meant that the Converse All-Stars became the most widely used shoe in the world of basketball, so much so that in 1922 he published the first Converse Basketball Yearbook.
